Psychosis

At Orchestrate Health, we treat patients for a range of disorders where Psychosis may be a symptom. As a private pay community mental health service, we are able to provide a level of service unrivalled anywhere in the U.K.

Typically the level of support provided by the NHS and other private mental health services is not as intensive as is required, particularly for those who may be leaving hospital or where there is an initial concern about psychotic issues. Orchestrate Health are able to quickly advise whether the situation can be managed effectively by us or where the patients’ needs are better served.

Types of psychosis

Apart from schizophrenia, various other disorders and factors can cause psychosis. The different types include:

  • Schizoaffective disorder: This disorder is similar to schizophrenia but includes periods of mood disturbances.

  • Brief psychotic disorder: Symptoms occur in response to a stressful life event, last less than a month, and do not return.

  • Delusional disorder: The person has a strong belief in something irrational and often bizarre with no factual basis.

  • Bipolar psychosis: Some people with bipolar disorder experience psychosis, either during a very high or very low mood.

  • Severe depression: Also known as major depressive disorder with psychotic features.

  • Postpartum (postnatal) psychosis: This type of psychosis can present after giving birth.

  • Substance-induced psychosis: The misuse of alcohol, some recreational drugs, and certain prescription drugs can cause this.

Signs and symptoms of psychosis may include.

  • Hallucinations:  hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, or feeling things that do not exist.

  • Disorganised thinking, speech, and behaviour: The person may jump between unrelated topics in speech and thought, making connections that appear illogical to other people. Their speech may make no sense to others.

  • Catatonia: The person may become unresponsive.

  • Delusions:  believing things that are false, also having unfounded fears or suspicions

  • Unusual Behaviour  unintentional movement, tapping, fidgeting

Our approach is sensitive to each person’s situation and we offer a range of assessment and diagnostic services as well as highly responsive treatment.

Orchestrate Health Treatment Options

Within our special packages of care we are able to provide the most comprehensive treatment service for mental health disorders in the U.K.

Though it’s important to acknowledge some people require a hospital stay, if medication and conditions are managed effectively this risk can be significantly reduced, we do this by having incredibly effective, multi disciplinary services

Anti-psychotic drugs

Central to most patient’s treatment is the prescribing by a Consultant Psychiatrist of Anti-Psychotic medication. Mind offer an excellent A-Z of medications available in the U.K.

Psychological Therapies

The most widely evidenced intervention we use is CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) this enables us to work with the patient to understand what’s happening to you and put in place goals that are realistic and work towards an improvement in your mental health.

Often running concurrently to this is the use of Family Therapy, to ensure effective engagement and support with the family who need to be supported to help you in the management of your condition.

Self Help Groups

Organisations such as mind offer some excellent local support groups – in addition there is also mental health mates These organisations are great for helping patients resocialise as well as helping to destigmatize what is often a very difficult situation to live with.

We are here to help

Contact us to find the care you need today.

I was referred by a friend of mine, whose daughter was treated there and who similarly, was at the 'end of the road'. From the initial contact, through the entire process, everything was different. They inspired a new confidence and the way the staff treated my son, and, uniquely, how they treated me, was incredible. He is now making great progress and I cannot express my gratitude enough.

The staff were professional, friendly and were there 24/7 to help me out with any problems that I had. All of my needs were dealt with promptly and the environment was tailored to my needs and character. No small detail was overlooked. I continued to receive care, encouragement and coaching, even after my time with them had come to an end. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs them."

I would like to thank addcounsel from the bottom of my heart for saving my partners life. Nine months ago we asked you for help. My partner was near death from his addictions. You have given my children there dad back and I will forever be eternally grateful.
